nbn Fixed Line

The nbn network uses four main fixed line connection technologies:

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
Fibre optic cable delivers broadband straight to your home or business.

Fibre to the Building (FTTB)
Fibre optic cable runs to your building, then existing copper cables within your building deliver broadband to your unit or apartment

Fibre to the Node (FTTN)
Fibre optic cable runs to a central location (node) in your street, then existing copper lines deliver broadband to your home or business.

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)
Fibre optic cable runs to a node in your street, then existing cables deliver broadband to your home or business.

More information of these fixed line technologies can be found here
